2021 Kathy Ohly Scholarship Recipients

The NDAPA would like to congratulate the following PA students that will receive the 2021 Kathy Ohly Memorial Scholarships:

Kylie Pastian – graduated from Hillsboro High School in 2015.  Anticipated graduation from UND with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies in May 2022. Kylie is in clinicals at Essentia Clinic in Moorhead, MN.

Krista Thielges – graduated from Enderlin Area High School in 2013.  Anticipated graduation from UND with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in May 2022. Krista is in clinicals at Sanford in Enderlin, ND.

The Kathy Ohly Memorial Scholarship was established in 1994 in memory of Kathy Ohly. Kathy graduated from the University of North Dakota Family Nurse Practitioner-Physician Assistant Program in 1976.

She was active in the NDAPA as President from 1982-1984, Public Education Committee Chair 1987-1991, and Bylaws Committee Chair 1985-1987. Kathy also was active at the National level serving as one of the North Dakota representatives to the AAPA House of Delegates during many national conventions.

Kathy organized an Orthopedic Surgical Team to go to Brazil to provide care for Brazilian children suffering from various orthopedic conditions. She received the 1987 AAPA Humanitarian Award for her efforts.

Kathy served as an inspiration and role model to the Physician Assistant Profession. She passed away on August 15, 1993, after a long battle with breast cancer.

The NDAPA awards scholarships annually to North Dakota individuals attending an accredited physician assistant program.

Donations are welcome and needed to continue this worthwhile fund. Anyone wishing to donate to the scholarship fund may do so by sending a check to the NDAPA at:

NDAPA has teamed with North Dakota Dollars for Scholars. Dollars for Scholars match the contributions from the NDAPA and also administers the scholarship selection.
